Setting your start page

Your Start page is the first page you see when you start up your browser. If you are using Internet Explorer (IE), it is probably msn.com. For Netscape users it is probably the Netscape home page. Wouldn't you rather have your browser open up to the page you want?  Here's how to do it:

In IE:

1. First surf to the page you want to use as your start page.

2. Click on Tools > Internet Options (in older browsers you may have to go to View > Internet Options).

3. In the "General" tab you can see where it lists your home page. Click on the "Use Current" button, then click OK at the bottom and you're done. (You could also copy and paste a URL into the "General" tab.)

In Netscape:

1. Surf to the page you want to use as your start page.

2. Go to Edit > Preferences.

3. Highlight the "Navigator" category.

4. Click on "Use Current Page" and then click OK.

To get more than one browser window to open automatically when you start your computer:

1. Go to the windows Start Menu > Programs > Start Up.

2. Double click on "Start Up" and the start up folder will open.

3. Now drag the little square document icon in the URL (address) window of your browser into the start up folder. This creates a shortcut to the page and the browser will go to that page automatically next time you start your computer.

4. You can add more than one shortcut to the start up folder by repeating these steps so that multiple browser windows open up, each going to the page you've chosen.
