Starting PowerPoint and Creating Presentations
There are four ways to create a new presentation:
Auto-Content Wizard, Design Template, Blank Presentation, and
Outlines.
Auto-Content Wizard:
This will walk you through several screens that offer you various
choices such as the presentation type, style and options. You
can then use the preformatted templates based on your selections.
-
After you make your choices
in the wizard and click Finish, you are
presented with an automatically made presentation. Each
slide then has descriptive placeholders telling you what
content to put onto each slide.
-
Highlight each placeholder
and replace it with your content.
Design Template:
This option allows you to choose designs template, or presentation
style. If you choose a design template you are given a page
with a certain theme.
-
Choose the layout you want
on this page, add your content, and then from the Insert
Menu choose New Slide to bring
up the next page of your presentation.
-
If you choose a Presentations
theme, such as Generic, you will be given
a whole presentation that has each section of the presentation
listed on the left side of your screen. Clicking on a section
on the left side will bring up the corresponding slide on
the right, and you can then add your content.
Blank Presentation: This
option is the most flexible but gives you the least help.
You choose the kind of layout you want on a single blank slide
and then start building your presentation from that.
Outlines: When you create a presentation in Outline
view you only see the text of the presentation in outline
form. This lets you focus on the content instead of the appearance.
You can switch to the Outline view even if you have created
a presentation using another method.
