Customizing
WebCT Icons
One great
way to add a special look to your course is to use customized icons. To
create your own icon:
- Find the image
on the web you want to create an icon of.
- Save the image
itself.
- Use an image
editor to change the size of the image to roughly 120 by 120 pixels
(much larger and the icon will look too large and take up too much
space).
- Upload it to
your course (I like to have a separate folder for images to keep things
organized).
- Choose your new
icon instead of the default icon.
In some cases you
will need to take a screenshot instead. A great free screenshot tool
is SnagIt!
A great
source of royalty-free icons is Hemera
Photo-Objects. They offer a couple volumes of 50,000 pictures. These
are the icons that WebCT themselves uses. It is very well designed
and offers a free
trial.
